My Garden - Volume 1

Hello everyone how us your weekend going?

Mine has been ok... i have been on my own for most of it as my fiance and daughter have been working.. but i got the ironing done and some crafting.. so not too bad lol

I managed to finish a project that i have been working on all week..... and i am really pleased with how it turned out ..

What is it ....?....

Is it a book?....

Nope... its one of those faux books i have seen around blogland recently.

Using some of the images from the FLORAL DELIGHTS collection at LADYBUG CRAFTS INK.... an old book page... letters and gardening tools cut on the Cricut ... some string .. some gilding flakes.. a chipboard dragonfly... a little wooden ladybug...glitter and glossy accents

Inside is a little pocket i which i have placed a couple of gifts - a packet of seeds and some felt ladybugs .

each image is layered higher than the next in tunnel card style.

The images are coloured with Promarkers ... glittered and all the ladybugs have glossy accent shiny bodies.

U used my Ink dusters and a sanding block to distress the edges.

I have loved making it .. and have it propped on my mantel piece ... cant help keep having a look.

Last weekend while i was having a good couple of hours i made this card using one of the new LADYBUG CRAFTS INK new floral delights digi's

This one is called - surprise surprise lol...

SUNFLOWER DELIGHT

I coloured the image with Promarkers...adding dots of gold gel pen to the centres of the flowers- and a little glitter to the petals and glossy accents to the ladybugs and to the vase.

I used some fabulous sunflower papers that Laurie gave me the first time i met her , and embellished with green satin ribbon, a sunflower cut from the papers and a little punched button.. i think looking at the card now i will add a bit of twine through the holes in the button.

Diane made a card using the image last week which was completely different to mine ..

I love how we all do different things with the same image - and how it can look so different .Isn't Diane's card pretty?

YAY..... my daughter passed her driving test this morning !!

What a great week we have had - 3 university offers and a driving test pass!!

We put it all down to the lucky bracelet her Aunty Laurie gave her for her 18th!

I made this card a whle ago when i knew she was going in for her test using a past sketch from Fetch a Sketch that i knew would be perfect!

Roadster NIKKI is one of my favourite Ladybug Crafts Ink images - and as my daughter loves all things VW - it was just perfect for the occasion.I just coloured her up with my Promarkers.

I think the card is self explanatory lol

Can you tell i am a proud mum this week - now just need a money making scheme to pay for the insurance .. if anyone knows of any cheap insurance let me know lol

Hello again.. thank goodness its Friday as they say.. i am looking forward to a relaxing weekend free of bugs and nasties.. and some crafty time.

Maybe spoiling my wonderful fiance as a Thank you for looking after me last week.

I am back today with a DT card for Winter Wonderland ... and boy have i been dying to show this card lol

I made it using new stash from the Manchester show. .. and a new technique to me.

The theme this week is

GLITTER AND BLING

So onto my card ... Its really easy .. and sooo sparkly.

Laurie and Pam also got stuff to make similar cards . We all got a different image - the idea being we can swap

Basically the image is a stencil.. and you spread paste through the stencil which you can then colour with chalks, glitter or gold foil... as you can see i chose glitter .

So easy yet so effective.... this is definitely going to feature on a lot of my Christmas cards this year.

I kept the card simple.. as its the sparkle that's the main feature lol

Now it was my best friend's birthday ( the sister of the Tic Tac boy lol) on Tuesday so i combined her card with this challenge using a fab funny Bugaboo image.- JJ Tequila - Instant Fun

My Best friend likes a good night out on the tiles ..

I coloured the image with Promarkers and inked around the edges with my Ink Dusters .

I added glossy accents to her glasses and the cocktails.. and then glittered her feather boa and bow.

I used some Birthday papers i have had in my stash for years! But thought they were fun.

Matting and layering with Pink cardstock.

I finished with flatback pink pearls.

Hello everyone

I am only working a 2 day week this week as i am taking Beth to Blackpool tomorrow for another Uni interview... can't be bad eh?

She got an offer from Hereford where we went last week - so that is good news .. goodness knows what she will do if they all offer her a place ! Blackpool although not our favourite seaside town is her favourite place to study at the moment because of the people , and the feel of he place .. so we will see after today if that is still the case.

As long as she is happy - i am happy for her to go anywhere .

I used Party Animal available HERE... isn't it cute?

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and then cut around it .. mounted it on an embosssed star panel, layered on red papers with a star punched border.

I then used the little punched stars to decorate ... and added a little pre printed sentiment , and glitter

I finished with a red ribbon bow.

The star embossing folder, the punch, and the ribbon are all over 6 months old.

I just love this colour combo don't you - it always looks so striking.

Hello friends .. well i felt a lot better last night so just had to play with another of the new floral delight digi's from Ladybug Crafts Ink

I made another of the addictive Mini cards - using my Cricut to cut the little house .. my MS punch for the fence ,flower soft and some fab cloud paper from my stash,

I coloured the little ladybug garden delight with my Promarkers.. added glitter, crystals and glossy accents to the ladybugs.

Its so cute!

Something from nothing... a tight Yorkshire lass !

Hello everyone.. well i am making the most of being awake for a few hours - and doing a spot of crafting , but nothing too taxing lol

I would like to dedicate this card to my 2 blogging buddies Pam and Laurie.. who i know thunk i am NUTS!

Last week when they were here i was talking about how i like to see an idea ... but instead of buying the CORRECT equipment .. i like to try and do it without or use something else ... well i am sure they think i am a tight Yorkshire Lass lol... which is probably right - but i do love the satisfaction and challenge of finding a different way.

So when we were at the show last week the girls bought dies to make rolled flowers.... and a light bulb went on in my head .. i recently bought a notebook edge die .. and when i used a few weeks ago.. i looked at the waste - and thought what could i do with this?

Well.. guess what ? I made these rolled flowers lol!

Here is the die...

When you look at the pic ... the bottom edge is the one for the notebook edge ... but i used the top edge which is essentially the waste! But it gives you little circles attached to a srtip... when rolled looks like little blossoms!

. I stuck 2 strips together a light pink and a dark pink... rolled and then I just added a pearl ot the centre.

Aren't they cute?

The twig was cut with my Cricut.

I know Pam and Laurie will be laughing at me ... and NO i haven't tried the plaster of Paris yet!! ( will tell you about that later in the week lol)

Missed the Fantas TIC TAC Party!

Hello everyone.. sorry wasn't around yesterday ,i was really quite ill. My chest was really bad ... and i just didn't know what to do with my self .

I couldn't sleep, couldn't get comfortable.. not even wanting to craft .

I was really sad because i had arranged to meet up with Jo from Dinky Daisy Designs to craft together and had to cancel - but hopefully we will re arrange soon.

I was also supposed to be going to a very good friend's 40th Birthday party and couldn't go.

He is the brother of my best friend - and i have known him since he was a baby ... i was 4 yrs old!

I am feeling a little better today and managed to finish off his card .. so thought i would show you it.

Now there is a story attached .. so sit back and i will begin...

Here is the front of the card - numbers and letters cut with my Cricut and papers from my stash... its quite a simple design.. but he is a no nonsense kind of lad - and the main focus is on the wording lol..

Now onto the inside....

and the best bit!

So what is it all about you ask... well the story i am going to tell you has been told over and over - at every get together and occasion we have all been to in the last 40 years!

When John was a Toddler his family, another family and my own all went on holiday together to a place called The Tolroy Holiday Village in Devon. It is now a legend!

It rained for a full fortnight!

One day all the children decided to play Doctors.

I was the receptionist.. ,my best friend was the Doctor .... her sister the Mum and JOHN was the baby.

The Mum came to the reception and said ..." I have brought my little baby to see the doctor ... he has a Tic Tac stuck up his nose."

I took down all the details ... then took them over to the Doctor ( my best friend)

She laid JOHN on the bed and looked up his nose ...

Then she gave one almighty scream...and shouted!!

" HE HAS GOT A TIC TAC STUCK UP HIS NOSE"

Panic stations ...... he was whisked to casualty - and for the rest of the day his mum had to sit bathing his nose with warm water trying to melt down the Tic Tac .

He has never lived it down.. hence the card!

So... hope our little story made you smile.. i am sure he will love his card .. and i a sure he has a hangover this morning!

I am now off back to bed for a bit - hopefully i will get some rest .

Pretty Bouquet for my Aunt

Hello everyone - well i am back with another card made with one of the New LADYBUG CRAFTS INK Floral Delight's digi's

This one is called

BOUQUET DELIGHT

It is a Birthday card for an Aunt.

I printed out the image twice, coloured with promarkers - decoupaged some of the larger flowers and added glitter,crystals and ribbon.

The paper is from my stash and the sentiment was pre printed.

I kept the design fairly simple as the main focal point is the gorgeous bunch of flowers.

Hello .. told you i would be back! How are we all today. I have a sore chest today ... i don;t know why .. i don;t think i complete;y got rid of the last bug.. so fingers crossed it will go completey now!

Now.... as a lot of you know Mary J started a trend for these mini cards ... a lot of the Ladybugs have been making them .. as well as Christine L and Helen ... so not to be outdone i had to have a go ! They are just so cute .

When we were at the show last week in Manchester we got a great deal on card blanks.. and some of them were Kraft card .. so as its not something i have used before - i thought i would try that too lol

I cut the circular shape from the card blank with my Cricut ..what did i do without that machine??

I then used an image that came free in a pack in a craft mag.

Now i normally shy away from Teddy's cos i find them difficult to colour... but i am quite pleased with how this one turned out.

I added glitter to the flower centre and to the butterfly ..i cut around the image and popped it on 3D pads .

The papers are from my stash .

Now the base scalloped card had holes around the edge .,. and to me that was just crying out to have ribbon threaded through ... so i did !!

Then added little flat back pearls .

So like everyone else i am now Hooked on the mini card lol.... be prepared to see more !!

Hello everyone... a quickie to share with you using one of my new stamps that the Lovely Laurie bought me from Inkyliscious at the Show on Friday.

The picture of my card is rubbish. I probably shouldn't have used a pearlised card blank.. as it seems to be reflecting on the part that isn't stamped.

I made the card for the Less is more challenge this week which is for a one layer card with stripes.

I created the stripes by masking using strips of torn papers and inking in between with my ink dusters and varying shades of purple.

I then stamped over the stripes with my new stamp.. and coloured her lips and eye with my Promarkers .. but this isn't showing too well either!

Oh well.. not to self to use a Matt card blank next time.

Hello everyone - well it's another big day today here at the Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge blog! Kerry has a new release of Digi Images and we are having a Blog Hop to celebrate!!

SO.... now onto my card ...

I was given this fabulous little garden digi to work with ... i love it! You know how much i love my garden-

I printed out my image and coloured with Promarkers .. but then wanted to try something different so cut up my image into little tiles . I glittered the little butterflies and added glossy accents to the ladybugs.

I wanted to make a card for Mothers Day - so i cut out the letters MUM using my Cricut ... and then used papers and card to layer up my card .

The Ribbon is also from Ladybug Crafts Ink .. (mental note to self .. need more !).. ad the flower and tag are from the build a blossom series from la pashe.

The image i feel will lend itself to all sorts of cards - Birthdays both Male and Female... Mother's day , Thinking of You .. etc ... so i know i will get lots of use out of it .

Hello everyone.. well i can't believe i waited for Pam and Laurie's visit so long.. and now its over .!!

BUT

we did have a fantastic time .. ( well i know i did .. and i think they did )

We shopped till we dropped.... ate yummy food ( well apart from the burnt custard!) , enjoyed good company - and even had time to craft!

I think everyone will agree that's a PERFECT weekend !

So as promised a few pics... i apologise for any that are out of focus .. there was so much hilarity it was hard to keep the camera still!

First ... our trip to CCS at Manchester.. where we met Linda .. Blue Summer house Designs but unfortunately didn't get a pic... and then

the girls on the Crafty Sentiments stand ... Suzette,Jo and Mary - along with a lady called Linda who was from Hougie board....

Then from there we went over to Skipton to meet Christine at Samuel Taylor's

and then we went home for a quick play with some of our stash and the Cricuut!.. before our evening meal at the AAkash.. the biggest Indian Restaurant in Yorkshire .. and supposedly the world lol

Winter Wonderland - No squares or rectangles

Hello everyone... well the girls made it to the Wilds of Yorkshire ... they arrived around 6ish yesterday .....we had our Coq au Vin , our cupcakes ... but don;task about the Apple pie lol... it was a disaster - but i don;t blame the baker - i blame the person warming it up and then burning the custard lol... it tasted like it had been on a BBQ!!

We had a great evening catching up on each others Gossip - and Kath from Plain and Simple - called round so it was a real blog girls night !

WE are heading off to the Creative Crafts Show at Manchester today.. and a few other little crafty places along the way .. so will have lots to tell tomorrow!

So.. i am here with my DT card for WINTER WONDERLAND ... and our theme this week is ..

No SQUARE or RECTANGLE Cards !

So mine is flower shaped!!.. with a hidden centre!

I made the flower shape by using nestie circles... matting with some DP from my stash .. and some faux stitching.

The centre is cut on my CRICUT.. its actually a frame and the middle part pops out .. but i re attached it by making a paper hinge

I decorated using some die cut flowers and a stamped sentiment in the middle

Moving along with Times DT card - Cute Critters

Oh its a busy day today .... Beth has her first Uni interview at Lincoln this afternoon - so as you are reading this we are travelling over there - i don't know who is more nervous me or her ???

Then this evening my blogging pals Laurie and Pam are coming to stay for the weekend .. so the Coq au vin is simmering in the stockpot . the apple pie and cupcakes are made .. i can't wait!!

So if i am MIA for a few days that's why - we have a packed schedule of CCS on Friday , meeting Christine L on Saturday and Craft shops in between.. meeting my Parents Fri evening - and taking them to the largest Indian Restaurant in the world Saturday!!

That's why i have the week off next week to recover lol.

I will try and catch up with my commenting next week - but apologise if i miss anyone. will also try and post some pics of us having fun!

But ... the main reason i am here today is to share my DT creation for

The DT were given some cute little meeces to pay with ..i decided to make an envelope card using Bo bunny papers from my stash, punched hearts and borders, and ribbon with sparkly hearts on.

I used my image on the little removable tag. The image was pre coloured .. but i added lots of little stamped hearts around the edge.

Simply Aqua

Now here i am AGAIN ( sorry lol) with a card made using my Home made embossing folder . ( see Sunday's post if you want to know how i made it )

Its actually a card for the Less is More Aqua challenge but my pic doesn't look very Aqua ... but trust me.. it is!

The embossed panel i inked with my Ink Dusters and the just added punched heart borders ,ribbons and a pearl heart.

I haven't added a sentiment as i thought the card could be used for any occasion later .

OK... short but sweet lol

Oldie But a Goodie - Lace

Hello everyone... how are you all today.

Its time for another challenge at

I coloured my image with Promarkers and mounted on a glitter card circle and a nestie.

The background of my card was made using a small flower stamp and some clear embossing powder... you can see it better in the pic below.

For the rest of my card i used my punches and lace and ribbon from my stash... along with some flat back pearls.

Everything on my card apart from the image is over 6 months old!

My little flower embellie was made using a scrap of lace i found in the bottom of my ribbon tin!

well you just knew that i would be back with more made with my home made embossing folder and eggshell mosaic hearts didn't you??

Here is a close up of the Mosaic heart ....

i just love them and am going to try different shapes and colours.

my card is quite simple .. as i think the Heart is the focal point .. well along with the gorgeous bow and Tilda lol

I am so excited that i can now make embossing folders to match the theme of my cards .. providing i have the shape on my Cricut cartridge lol.

Go to work on an egg!

Yes you read the title right .. but it doesn't mean what you think it means ... it means i set to work on an egg!

and what did i create ?.....

an eggshell mosaic heart embellishment ... that can be made into a little brooch.

I saw the Tutorial HERE

and they are surprisingly easy to make .. the fiddliest bit is taking the membrane from inside the eggshell.

So spurred on by my craftness i also tried something else .. i don't posess a heart embossing folder .. so made my own.. using hearts cut from my Cricut and a heart punch.

I used cardboard packaging from a pizza box..

All i did was stick the hearts randomly onto a piece of the cardboard

and here is what i made with the card i then embossed by using my home made folder in my cuttlebug...

I inked the embossed panel with my ink dusters so that the embossing stands out..I just added a stamped sentiment, some red and black card from my stash and a piece of ribbon.

I will definitely making more of the embossing folders... now i know it works!

Shaker Heart

Just wanted to share a card made for a lady at work to give to her husband.. hope she likes it cos its no good for anyone else unless thee husband/boyfriend is called Pete!!

She always takes an interest in my card making .. and heard all about my Fab new Toy.. so wanted a card made with it .

I decided to make a shaker card with her husbands name inside ..

The heart and name was cut on my Cricut.. i stamped little hearts around the name before adding hearts and beads into the shaker

I finished with a double bow and a heart charm.

Sorry the photo's are a bit rubbish ..i had trouble cos of the acetate .

OK ... best get on.. lots to do to get ready for my visitors who arrive Thursday .. fingers crossed the snow goes away!

Saffron - Rock Chick

Well i got an order from my daughter last week for a card for her college friend Saffron.... and i knew straight away a Kenny K image would be just perfect .

My daughter was a little wary when she saw it as she thought it was a little too saucy.. but my fiance said it was perfect!... lol.

I coloured the image with Promarkers adding red glitter to her heart tattoo and ribbons in her hair

I then mounted her onto a panel embossed with musical notes and distressed with my ink dusters .

I sat her on a strip of ruffled ribbon...

and then used letters and stars cut from black glitter card using my Cricut ( yes again!).

Apparently she loved it ... which is praise indeed fom an Art Student lol

A card for my Fairy Godmother

Hello again everyone..how are we all?

I am feeling a lot better today - the sleep must have helped .

I wanted to show you this card i made to say Thank You to my blogging friend and fairy Godmother for the fabulous Christmas present ( My Cricut)

I wanted to wait till i could use the Cricut to make the card ..so i apologise that i have only just sent it now.. and she should have received it .

I saw this sketch .. at Fetch a sketch and it inspired me ..

I cut out the wording on my Cricut along with the stars .. i used an embossing folder to make the night sky and glittered the dots.
Then i found this fabulous Fairy Godmother colouring page ..and i couldn't believe it does bear a slight resemblance to my friend when she has her glasses on and her hair up in her clip!
Although she is much slimmer and prettier !!

I coloured her ( the image - not my blogging friend !) with my promarkers and glittered her wings and skirt.

Its just a little Thank you ... BUT .. on Thursday my Fairy Godmother and another blogging friend are coming to Yorkshire for a few days .. so i will make sure i show them a good time !

Hello again.. i am back.. spent a lot of today asleep... i was so tired.. but hope it has done me some good!

However ... i had a little time to play.. so i wanted to try and make something for the Less is more Sketch challenge this week.

As soon as i saw the sketch...

I had an idea... and i am glad to say it turned out how i imagined lol.

So here is how i made it....

Firstly .. the most time consuming part was the making of the trellis stencil. I cut strips of card and glued them together . ( really technical lol)

Then i used my Ink Duster to create a pale blue background through the stencil

And this is how the card looks when you remove the stencil. Don't worry that the trellis isn't perfect ...as you can cover up any imperfections with your tapestry stamps

And then the fun starts - building up the leaves .... firstly with a dark green

and then with a lighter olive green

Then add the flowers ...i used a pink and yellow

and here is the finished set.. with the sentiment stamped on.

Easy eh? ..

Ok.. Shepherds pie for tea.. am actually quite looking forward to it ..

Hello - another scheduled post .. as i am likely to still be in my bed .. although i have been sleeping don;t feel like i have rested . I really feel for anyone who has a respiratory condition as breathing can be so tiring .

However , its really funny cos my buddy and teammie Laurie had the same idea and even used the same sentiment! I keep telling her we must have even separated at birth... check out her cute card HERE.

I coloured the little bee with my promarkers .. added glitter to his wings .. then mounted him on 2 hearts cut with my Cricut and matted and layered with the check paper.

I used ribbons from my stash .. a sentiment printed on my PC.. and another little heart for decoration.

I love the alternative colour combo.. its really cheerful.what do you think?

Hello i am back.. luckily i made both my cards before i was poorly .. as i still feel rough . My sinuses are so painful at the moment ... and my eyelids are sore as i think i really need sleep ... but can't.

So thank goodness for crafting ... as i have done quite a bit during the night when i have been restless .

The inspiration for my card came from a blogging buddy and team mate SUE .. she made a card a couple of weeks ago with an Art deco panel behind.. and a light bulb went on in my head

My card is different to Sue's.. but uses the same geometric pattern ... i used a template that was in a craft mag recently.

I decided to make an easel card and use the

Turquoise /green colour that i see in lots of my elderly patients bathrooms.. you know with the Vitralite tiles.

That to me is so art Deco.

The papers came free in a craft mag.. i coloured Lolita with my promarkers and added some punched flowers with button middles.

The sentiment came free in a set from a craft mag.. and i mounted onto a glitter punched panel/.. and embellished with black ribbon and another ribbon.

I love it .. and i hope you do too....

SO without further ado ... my card .. with not much chat .. as i am sure you can work out how i did it !

This is how my partner will receive the card ( sorry for the rubbish pics..but it was the only place i could hang it )

I have seen this style of card as i have hopped round blogs in the last few months ... where the circular cards are attached with brads allowing them to fold out ... but i added my own twist with the additional heart fold out topper ..

I love a Challenge..... of any kind

LOL... well the first challenge for me today was actually getting out of bed!

I feel so rough ... i thought i would be all better by today .. but sadly yesterday and today i feel worse!

I didn't want to have to be off sick.. but i had to admit defeat !

I am really disappointed as i was going to meet a blogging friend this evening - CRAFTY LINBY..as she is in Leeds for work.. but i don't want to risk giving her this horrid cold so have had to cancel.. hopefully we will meet soon.

So... onto my other challenge lol.

Do you remember in my last post i said my partner had been to watch the football with my blessing on Saturday ..lol ( so i could craft!).. well he came home with 2 bunches of roses ...

They should have been £6... and he paid £1.50 !

Here are the labels to prove it ....

Now a lot of women would have been offended at such a cheapskate .... not me .. and he knows it!

I hate him paying over the odds for flowers ( as much as i adore them) .... but i also love the challenge of nurturing the flowers that were past their date .. and seeing how long i can keep them.. when other people would have thrown them away..

so here are the roses today...3 days after he bought them

aren't they gorgeous?? They have given me so much joy over the last couple of days .. and so much satisfaction.. and if they only last a week.. it was £1.50 well spent.

Now the other day .. i was visiting Helen's blog and she had been bought roses and said she had killed them off within a day... i gave her some advice.. and am now thinking .. a few more of you may like the advice ..apologies if you already know this .. but may come in useful with Valentines just round the corner !!

Roses or any other woody stemmed flower often die because the water cannot get up the dense woody stem... so if someone buys you roses or a woody stemmed flower.. before you arrange them .. cut the bottom of the stems... then plunge them in BOILING water ( yes BOILING) - this opens up the capillaries in the stems .. then after a minute .. arrange them in COLD water.

This works for me every time.. and i do this when the roses look to be failing and it often perks them up and they last a few more days .

Worth a try especially as they are sooo expensive.

The next tip... is if your roses are drooping.. you can prick the top of the stem like you would with a tulip.. this helps the water travel up the stem too..

or.. and this one works too despite sounding odd....

take the roses out of the vase ... lay them flat on sheets of newspaper..

Roll the newspaper around the roses ( in a tube)

Then immerse the whole flower and stem horizontally in a bath or bowl of cold water so they are completely covered

Leave for an hour ..

This should perk them up!

I used to go for flower arranging lessons .. and these tips were given to me by the teacher.. hope they help

and before i forget .. i must remind you you still have time to buy Ladybug Crafts Ink Stamps at Half price..

I have already made one order .. but might just go back for more lol.. i mean.. rubber stamps for £3.25!! Its a no Brainer!

Football?.... Yes Darling!

Hello everyone.. how is your Saturday going ? well i hope.

I am feeling a lot better today ... i now have a streaming cold.. but at least i am getting it out of my system.

So what have i been doing today ? can you guess lol

My fiance asked me this morning if i would mind if he went to watch the football at the pub with a mate .. "Of course not darling " i said ... " Its your day off.. you work hard and you should have some fun"

He he ... method in my madness... he thinks i am lovely letting him go.. which i am ! - BUT.. it meant i could get some jobs done.. and then PLAY with my new toy again lol

Well we still need more Thank you cards fr Beth to send .. so i used some of my practise cuts .. to make some quick cards .

I was experimenting with the different ways of cutting out the same word.

The top card is made using the word in its largest form.. on the first setting. Its quite a big card .. but very striking. I also used some free papers and embellies from Craft Mags.

Then i made the following 2 cards .. using one cut!

I cut out the panel.. in the bottom card .. and then realised as i was pushing out the letters i could make another card with the waste.

Simple cards .. but i think they have a fresh modern feel.... and so cheap to make lol.. ( well if someone buys you a Cricut that is !)

I know they aren't the most craftiest of cards .. but sometimes we need quick cards in batches .... are you thinking Christmas ??? I am!!

I have been bursting .....

Are you sitting comfortably? I will begin.....

To show my other Christmas present ... but have had complications... but now i can reveal all lol....

what do you think??

On Christmas morning.. i emailed Kerry from LCI and said "guess what i got for Christmas "... she replied .. "well you either got engaged or you got a CRICUT.... i replied ... "actually I got both!"

How lucky was i ??

Now this gift was from my crafting/blogging fairy Godmother .. i received a parcel a couple of weeks before Christmas with strict instructions NOT to open it till Christmas day.

This wonderful person knows i haven't really had many good experiences at Christmas and didn't really look forward to it ... so she wanted to change my outlook..

So i put the rather large box under my tree... and waited ... till the bg day.

Well as you all know i was over the moon as my Partner proposed to me.. but then i opened this ... can you imagine what i was like lol!!

So.. why haven't i mentioned this earlier you ask?..... well you know me... nothing is ever straight forward ..

Boxing day i set to with my daughter all set to create .. and unfortunately it wouldn't cut.

The shop it came from wasn't open until the 6th Jan.... so had to wait till then to speak to them. After trying several things they decided they would have me return it and send me another.

well ... i received another on Monday .... BUT ... the Courier company left it in my dustbin at 8.30am.. and when i got home from work at 5pm.. i found it ... and it had been sat in water ...

The water had seeped right through 2 boxes...the packaging.. and to the CRICUT... so i got staright on the phone.. and the upshot is the shop is making a claim against the delivery company .. and i got another CRICUT yesterday.

AS you know .. i was under the weather .. and i must have been poorly as i didn't have the energy to open the box .. but today.. i did!

And it works fine!

So i made this lol...

Not sure what it is actually called but saw something similar on Dr Sonias Blog HERE.. and have been wanting to have a go...

I made the box and decorated using hearts and letters cut with the Cricut... punched borders ,card paper and ribbon from my stash....

Oh my mind s racing with all the things i can do... so apologise now if every project this week features my new toy in some way lol

Now can you believe ... the lady who sent me this has a BIG Cricut .. and she has had it a long time.. and its still in the box... the same lady is coming to stay in February.. and you can bet we will be playing .. and she WILL get hers out of the box when she gets home lol

I cannot thank her enough. for this gift... i will try and spoil her when she visits.. and will enjoy every moment creating fab projects with it ..

I know how lucky i am to have met this lady through my blogging.. and i know she will be my friend for life.. she made my day when she let me make candy floss... so this was just the cherry on the cake..

For my card I used a new image that i won from Elaine last year - isn't she pretty...i coloured her with My Promarkers... and mounted her on an embossed scalloped oval, and then layered on another pearlescent brown oval

I used some swirly Craftwork Cards papers.. some metallic bronze lace, flowers from my stash ..marianne swirls and lots of little pearl embellies . I also added a couple of pearl bead pins .

As i am feeling a little under the weather it inspired me to make a get well card - i don't have any in my stash.

MAWTT DT - Blooming Marvellous

Good morning everyone.... not so good for me - i started last night with a sore throat .. and it has just got worse over night .. i feel rough .. and goodness knows what i look like lol!

I am dosing up with cold medication.. and will probably go back to bed ! I tend to be best if i sleep stuff off.

So anything featuring blooms/flowers

Now i saw a project on my crafty friend Christine's blog HERE and she was inspired by this post HERE and have been dying to have a go.. and this challenge was perfect

So i made a Hydrangea flower sing punched flowers... and added a little bit of glitter for more gorjossity!

I used papers from my stash.. different size card ovals, a nestie sentiment die and a

Polka doodles image that came free with a magazine. She was actually holding a cupcake but i cut that away .

Now i think in hindsight i regret the black base card ... but i chose it cos i thought it would make the hydrangea pop... but i think it might be too dark now.. and i should have chosen a paler pink!
But its made now !

I will definitely be making more Hydrangeas.. i am thinking Mothers Day!

Less is more - Cut away

Hello everyone.. i know it said it yesterday but i don;t know where the time is going this week.. i am so behind .

Hopefully i will catch up tomorrow on my day off lol

I didn't make a card last week for the Less is More challenge as the theme was Birds .. and you all know what i think to BIRDS!!

So i had to enter this week to make up for it ! The challenge this week at Less is More is Cut it out

However i am not completely happy with my card ... as after i have made it .. and taken the pics ..i can see the Hearts aren't centralised.. like i thought they were!

Maybe its me eyes lol!!

Anyway .. its made now .. and i like the idea.. so when i make another i will MAKE sure the hearts are centralised !

As you will have guessed i cut out the aperture and then used punched borders to create the central panel

I then added a ribbon and sentiment

I then added a panel of red card on inside of the card - so that when the card is closed the red shows through the apertures.

OK... not my best .. but i had a go lol

Helloooo.. wow time is just flying by and i seem to be meeting myself coming back these days ..hopefully things will quieten down soon.. although Feb will also be busy as my daughter has got some interviews at Uni's - so we will be off on our travels again! Although she can drive some of the way now lol

Ok.. well am working today .. have a course this morning .. and then visits this afternoon. One of my visits will be really interesting as its an assessment for electronic assistive technology.. which means a way of someone turning on lights, tv, radio, opening doors , curtains... by just blinking or blowing or touching a pressure pad .

String of Hearts

Hello everyone.. well here i am again lol... had a day off blogging and crafting yesterday. As part of my daughters Birthday present we paid for a months car insurance so she can practise more.. and she drove us to Scarborough all bar the motorways of course ) It was lovely to be chauffeur driven lol... and we had a wonderful walk on the beach with Bobby - blowing the cobwebs away!.. and then fish and chips on the way home. Bobby had a fantastic day - he has been sleeping all day today lol!

So today was a catch up day... a bit of housework.. Roast Chicken dinner and some crafting.

I love this time of year when there are lots of challenges wanting red and black ... its one of my favourite colour combo's and i have seen lots of fab cards around using it.. so wanted to make one myself .

I stamped my Tilda with string of hearts and coloured with my Promarkers- adding glitter to the hearts .

My pics are a little too light .. and Tilda looks very pale.. but she is coloured

I used Bo Bunny Valentines papers from last year .. and made a tent card ... cutting a diamond aperture and framing with a shiny black fleur de lis nestie.

I also used MS punched hearts in red card in the corners and a large satin bow- from Ribbon i purchased in a £1 Jan sale bag at Crafty Ribbons

I finished off with a little heart stamp i found the other day that i bought last year - and i paper pieced the heart .

My Pics are shocking.. and don't really show my card to its best .. but it the best i could do in the diminishing light .

Sweet Sixteen with My Crafty Heart

Hellooo.. well i had a productive day yesterday , caught up with my ironing and did some crafting .. feels like ages since i did some.

Unfortunately my dad and partner didn't get the garage door fixed.. so its an ongoing project ! Nothing is ever straight forward.

Anyway - i had to make a card for my God Daughter who is 16 this weekend.She is a real girly girl.. so opposite to my daughter and she likes to dress up and wear make up.

I saw this FREEBIE last week from MY CRAFTY HEART and knew that it would be perfect . I know she is 16 and cant drink... but i loved the party girl image ..and that could be lemonade in that glass!

I coloured the image with Promarkers and added little white gel polka dots to the dress.

I glittered the champagne and then added glossy accents all over the glass - but it doesn't really show up in the pic.

I used a variety of red themed papers from my stash .. some ribbons i got from Crafty Ribbons in their Jan sale £1 bags ( they are fantastic!).. and a paper flower coloured and glittered to match the card .

So i hope she likes her card . I am sure she will have a fab birthday .

I am ok to show the card as she doesn't check out my blog ..she isn't the crafty type lol

Hello everyone.. wow am i glad to be off work now till Monday.. it must be my age .. after all the excitement of my daughters birthday i have flopped lol.. Gone are the days when i could party every night lol

We are out tonight for a girly chick flick night and pizza's at a friends house.. not sure what we will be watching.. if anything as we will probably be catching up on all the gossip !

Unfortunately i had to make a sympathy card at the weekend for a blogging friend whose Mother in law passed away last week.

After all the lovely comments about my purple card last week i decided to use the same stamp again - but in different colour ways and also using the butterflies that came with the set .

I stamped the image twice so i could decoupage the image and give it a little dimension.I coloured using my promarkers. The butterflies are also stamped with pink ink onto green card and then glittered and folded .

I then added pearls to the centres of the flowers .

I used papers from my stash and a sentiment i have had for such a long time. The edge of the white card did look a little stark so i softened it with my ink dusters and a pale pink.

It turned out quite pretty .

Hello everyone ..i think all the excitement has caught up with me lol... i had to have an early night last night .. i was shattered .But it was all worth it .

Will have to start saving now for the 21st lol

I am back today with my GD card for

So I decided to make a cute little card using this adorable little boy.

I coloured the images with Promarkers .. and cut around them. I added glitter to the hearts and used 3D foam pads to attach them to the card .

I used papers and card from my stash .. and a punched star border.

The top pic is the front of the card .. and this is the inside . The sentiments were printed on the pc , and i used the "waste" stars to decorate .

I think it would make a perfect Valentines card, Mothers day card . or even a birthday card for a Mum.

LADYBUG CRAFTS INK -BOWS

Hello everyone.. hope you are all well this cold and frosty morning..

Firstly i must thank everyone for all the lovely wishes and comments to my daughter for her 18th Birthday.

I think she had a wonderful time.. she loved her card ... and the celebrations are still on going.

We are going to my friends ( the one who has been in hospital ) on Thursday evening for a girly night of pizza's and a chick flick... and then on Friday evening my daughter and her pals are all going out to TGI Fridays!

I don;t think she has done bad - do you lol?

So its now time for the new Ladybug Crafts Ink challenge... Sue has chosen the fabulous theme of

a nice easy one.. we all love our ribbons and bows

Now i have been so busy ... i nearly didn't manage to get a card done... but then yesterday i had a brainwave ( i know it doesn't happen very often!)

I needed Thank you cards ... and quite a lot of them for my daughter to send out ... and so i tried to incorporate the theme .. but needed a quick easy card .. that i could make batches of !

I remembered that there is a BOW digi at Ladybug Crafts Ink as part of the Baubles set.. so i set to work.!!

In my PAINT programme i typed the words .. and then added little bows.... i then added a border around the edge .. and printed off 6 on a sheet

I coloured the little Bows with my Promarkers and added glitter

and there you go a fab set of THANK YOU'S .. with LOTS of BOWS

So although my cards are not quite as fabaliscious as the rest of the DT ... (make sure you pop over to the challenge Blog and check them out)- i have managed to meet the theme with a batch of quick cards lol..

Special Card and memories

Hello everyone.. well the big day is finally here... 18 yrs ago my life changed for ever at 4pm..

My wonderful daughter was born .

So i have shared the card from the cats, the dog, the cake , the cupcakes and party,the bunting... and now its time for my card .

Now i am a little disappointed in the way my card looks... but its a bit late now! But i am happy i have managed to cram all Beth's Favourite things and events of her life at the moment onto the card... so i am sorry if it looks a bit like i have thrown the kitchen sink at it lol!

The photo's aren't too great - but it was a difficult card to photo.

So here is an explanation of all the elements...

The DP is splodges of paint- as my daughter is studying art .. they Key is for 18 obviously.. but also hopefully she will pass her driving test soon and will have a key to my car.

The main images are supposed to look like sketches torn from a sketchbook.... her Digi site - Squidgi Digi and a couple of her images ... which also happen to be one of her things ....VW's

And the paint palette.. well once again she is studying art....

The next panel.. is "sketches" of our cats Coco and Stella and Bobby the dog... she loves animals... and is hankering after another dog!

P!NK is her favourite singer ... and her beloved Doc Martens...

and lastly.... Ronald McDonald... as she now works at Mc Donald's on a weekend, Blackpool and Lincoln.... the 2 places she has shortlisted as University choices... just got to get a place lol

Hello everyone.... oh boy i am shattered.. its been a busy day.

I have made 2 apple pies... made and decorated 45 cupcakes, made and decorated a birthday cake.. cleaned up.. done some washing... and now have just flopped in front of the TV... early night for me i think .. then back to it in the morning making vol au vents and sandwiches lol ( you can't have a buffet without vol au vents lol... they are so 1970's!!)

Anyway as part of my tidying up i had to take down the beautiful engagement cards we have been sent from friends and bloggers .

I was sad to take them down - but need to make space for my daughters birthday cards . ( i have mine yet to make lol!!- know what i am doing just need to find a minute to do it)

A big Thank you to everyone who sent us a card - i am going to decorate a keepsake box to treasure them in.

Hello everyone.. well we did a mammoth shop last night at Tesco.. and didn't get in and have our tea till 10.30pm.. i think we have enough food to feed the whole of Cleckheaton.

I know we will have far too much .. that's always the case and we will be eating it all week lol... but that's what we all do lol

Today its the turn of Bobby's card for my daughter .

I saw these die cut toppers in the craft shop.. and couldn't resist.I know the dogs aren't exactly like Bobby as he has a black face ..but they are similar enough.

I mounted the topper on green card and then onto paper from my stash.

I cut some "grass" using my new die namics die ..and then decorated with grosgrain ribbon and floral ribbon- with crystals as centres.

I finished off with another of the toppers, which i mounted on 3d foam pads .. and then a sentiment. When i find an 18 in my stash i will also add that lol ( when i have a minute)

I know she will definitely like this card .. most of you lot will know too lol.. can you believe i haven't made mine yet!

Hello everyone.. hope you are all looking forward to the weekend... i am working through my "to do" list for Sunday... mainly cleaning today .... YUK! then going for the shopping later so i can start baking and creating lol - much more exciting !

I decided to make a little tag to go on a gift bag

I used my Nellie die to cut out 2 oval frames which i stuck together to make a circle
I coloured my image with Promarkers and cut out with my scalloped oval nellie die.I then decorated my tag with some gorgeous iridescent ribbon and punched flowers and crystals.
There will be a special present going inside the bag. Its coming all the way from America.. via a fab blogging buddy ..

Now i also wanted to make some bunting - so this fits with the Birthday wishes theme too.

I got the bunting blanks from Every crafts a pound.. 15 for £1.50.. what a bargain - not worth cutting it out lol

I sued papers from my stash... some Hippie fonts cut out with my circle nestie and mounted on a couple more scalloped circles.. and some die cut flowers and flat back pearls on the tips of the triangles.

I didn't put Birthday or 18 on the bunting as i thought Beth might want to take it with her when she goes to uni to brighten up her room.

Helloooo.. well i had a lovely morning meeting up with Tip Top ....( aka Ruth lol) .. we had a cuppa and a good old chinwag.. and Jo from Dinky Daisies also popped in

Now i need a few cards for my daughters birthday on Monday - and this is the first of them ( Beth has been told not to look at my blog this week or go into my craft room).... from our 2 cats ... Coco ( the black one) and Stella ( the other one... who these days lives with a neighbour more than she does here!!)

I have had the cat on the chair stamp quite some time .. and cant believe its another one i haven't used!! It is soo cute!

So i stamped it out and coloured it with Promarkers.... paper piecing the chair . I wouldn't mind one like that lol.

I didn't colour the cat completely Black or you wouldn't have seen its cute face .. so i went for grey.. sorry Coco! I then stamped the other cat- a paper mania stamp and tried to colour her to look a bit like Stella.. she definitely has that same arrogant air lol... she sits in the neighbours window like lady muck watching us drive by lol..

Its really funny because a couple of months ago the neighbour came to see if we would look after her whilst they were on holiday..... lol... she is our cat and we had to look after her whilst the neighbour was away!!

Anyway back to the card ... i then used papers and ribbon from my stash to create the striped/spotty "wallpaper" background. I finished with a pre printed sentiment and some bunting.

I think Beth will like it ....

DIVA's by DESIGN - New Beginnings

Hello everyone... well its the last day at work for me ..this week and i have taken Monday off - so a lovely long weekend . Albeit busy with My daughters birthday celebrations... i might wish i was back at work when i am knee deep in baking lol.

Anyway... best get on... and here i am today with my project for

DIVA'S BY DESIGN

and this week the theme is

NEW BEGINNINGS

now i have to be honest .. i didn't make this word book this week.. i made it in October .. and have been waiting for the right moment to share it .

I made it for a lady at work who had a civil Partnership in October . She was thrilled and apparently it had pride of place next to the cake at the reception!

Before i tell you about my project - i must tell you we are sponsored by Crafty Emma's this week

so now onto my project . The brief i had to make a card . was that the theme was blue... and i was to try and include Amateur dramatics, maths teaching, travel and cooking.

So that's why i chose the word book so i could fit in each theme .

I covered the chipboard book with papers that were sent to me by Jovita in a candy i won...and there were also matching sentiment stickers. Luckily the papers were blue!

I was also given some photos of the happy couple to include....

I added die cut flowers and flatback pearls ...

here i used an image of a suitcase for the "travel" element

and on this page are the maths teacher , amateur dramatics and cookery elements

and lastly i left space for a pic of the happy couple on their special day

I finished off with lots of co ordinating ribbons .

Oldie But a Goodie -Back to work

Hello everyone.. hows your week going ? mine is hectic.. but at least it makes the time fly/

Its time for another challenge at

OLDIE BUT A GOODIE

and this week our theme is

BACK TO WORK

ad were given some fabulous images to work with .. they are so much fun.

I decided to go with a monochrome card to go with the power suit lol. do you remember them from the eighties.. wow you could knock someone out with those shoulder pads lol!

I used papers i have had in my stash for about 3 yrs and found them whilst having a tidy the other day.

I mounted squares of the paper on silver mirri .. and then i stamped a panel of script on which to matt and layer the image . I have also had the script stamp for nearly as long as the papers and found it in the same place lol.

I finished off my card with some flower embellies cut from the same paper , a loopy bloom felt flower and marianne die cut swirls.

I really like this card ... hope you do too.

Also ....we have a slight rule change . You can now enter using ANY stash that is 6 months old.. it doesn't just have to be the image . SO you can now use a digi image as long as you use something else on your card that is 6 months old... as per the name of the challenge - Oldie but a Goodie . Just tell us what is your oldie stash when you link up the challenge .

Loopy bloom without a die

Hello everyone - hope you have all had a great Sunday. I re visited Ikea.. not as busy today thank goodness and at least they give you a refund without any quibbles.

No card from me today .... but after my card yesterday lots of people asked for a tutorial on how i made the loopy felt flower... so here goes ... hope you understand these instructions.. i have made them simple.

And here is the flower used on yesterdays card - as you can see i used the wider strip.. and added a pearl into the centre.
